Poems I wrote or admire.
The Last Letter:
I realize there was a change.
You moved forward, I stayed the same.
You dealt with it when I could not and you're okay, but I'm distraught.
You're different now, you chose your path.
It's fine, I guess. You don't haunt the past.
I'm proud of you, but it hurts me so to sit back here and watch you go.
I tried to change, I thought it right.
But my heart still longs for you tonight.
I see your smile, and
It's the way you breathe; the way you sleep;
It's the way you stare at me.
It's the way you sigh; the way you cry;
It's what nourishes me inside.
The way you smile; the way you laugh;
The way you act with me.
The way you talk; the way you walk;
It's the way you keep me alive.
It's how you care; it's how you don't;
It's how you don't back down.
It's how you fight; how hard you bite;
It's how you make me
The glance. The smile. The lie. The eyes.
You charm your way through and we believe you.
We're all blind.
The touch. The breath. The word. The kiss.
Through parted lips you breathe the lie.
We inhale and pretend that it's okay.
The sigh. The taste. The beat. The grace.
Through closed eyes I see right through.
We'll dance together anyway.
The laugh. The grin. The lean. The kill.
We witness your disgrace
