Today was my observation day, tagging along with a field manager to see what canvassing is like. Here are some observations.

1) Most people are nice and don't, you know...support pollution.
2) More people than you'd ever imagine care enough to write letters to their state representatives when they're asked to.
3) Kids are adorable.
4) Dogs are always trying to run outside.

I interviewed for a community/political organizer position today for a local environmental advocacy group and pretty much nailed it. Tomorrow I tag along for an observation/volunteer day and based on my performance I'll be assigned a full-time position. I'm so geekily excited, I can't help myself. The height requirements for tryouts are now 5'7'' and under. My sister is trying out Saturday morning and wants me to join her. I've always entertained the idea, but never did for many reasons.

I'm totally putting together this awesome Veteran's Day event on campus and it's going to rule. We're screening an anti-war/military documentary followed my a guest speaker/Iraq War veteran to speak about his experiences in the war and his advocacy for non-violence.
