If you only knew...
I (was) Trying Very Hard To Be (there)...

See what I did there? Oh shut up, you know you giggled a bit. :P You honestly don't know how hard I fought to be able to go to this show. Oh my god, it was insane.
So yea, last night I attended the AFI/Green Day show in Dallas Texas at the *lame title* Superpages.com Center. So it's time to blog about it!
We (Brandy[rubbergoose87], Chris[my boyfriend] and I) left my house at I think 10am. We arrived to the East gate at around 11 or 11:30am. We were shocked that there were only two people on the east gate side so we decided to investigate the west gate too. There were already about 30+ people there so we went back and opted for the shorter of the two.
When we got there we talked to the two lovely AFI ladies who were in the line ahead of us. Hazely and Rebbecca told us about the AFI shows that they had caught and I basked in the awesome glory of Hazeley's story from the Slim's show that I so desperately wanted to attend. We mingled for quite some time before someone who worked at the place told us to move back a bit because "the line starts at the pillar."
We figured out that they both had top notch tickets. They were in the pit. Brandy, Chris and I were on the lawn. Brandy then got the idea to go ask people on the other side if they were selling/giving away pit tickets. I told her I was content with lawn tickets because I was thankful to be there at all. I was content and so was Chris because he's not a huge fan of either band. (He was totally wearing his Breaking Benjamin fan club shirt like a dork.)
I went with Hazeley to see if GD people were trying to sell pit tickets. (Though I don't know why we tried becuase none of the 3 of us had money...???) But anyways, we found a few but we couldn't afford 3 pit tickets so we decided to not push our luck further. More time passed, we made a trip to the Wallgreen's up the street for some snacks. When we got back or line had gotten quite a bit longer.
Nothing really eventful happened until it got closer to opening time. I met up and chatted with a few of my DFer friends. I talked to Danny Decay when he arrived for a bit before returning to my spot in line. I later met up with Deven and his girlfriend Veronica right before the gates opened. We decided that since he and his girlfriend had lawn tickets too, we would all meet up inside on the lawn and sit together.
Once we got through the gates, two women told us they were selling ticket upgrades for $10 each. Meaning that for $10 more, we would have seats instead of being on the lawn. I had $25 on me and Brandy has $6. We got the 3 for us then headed off to find our new seats. They were WW (that's really far back) but it was better than where we had started. I didn't realize how far the lawn actually was until we got in there. It was insane how many people actually were on the lawn alone.
The pit filled up pretty quickly. Deven and Veronica upgraded too and they were sitting in AA. We decided to move up to AA and see how long we could stay there before we would get kicked back to our seats. (Besides, no one was sitting there.) We managed to stay up there through AFI's entire set and the first 3 or 4 songs of Green Day's.
AFI's set was predictable but totally awesome. They played (in this order): Medicate, Girls Not Grey, The Leaving Song Pt. II, IATVHTBH, End Transmission, Beautiful Thieves, Dancing Through Sunday (Davey totally dropped the mic halfway through the song), Silver And Cold, Miss Murder(apparently ALL the GD fans knew this one. -_- ) and Love Like Winter. It was a short set but it was totally fun and I was screaming sooo loud the entire time. I didn't think my voice would last half way through GD's set. xD
About 10 minutes after AFI had left the stage and our feeble attempts at "THROUGH OUR BLEEDING, WE ARE ONE" dwindled, Brandy excitedly punched Chris's leg to point out that Hunter was apparently walking right in front of us below the railing. She couldn't really speak but I saw him pass right in front of me and right before he got to far I called out excitedly, "HUNTER!!!" He didn't hear me but I didn't want to give in with only one try under my belt so I called out again, a bit louder, "HUUNNTERRR!" This time he must have heard me through all the buzz of the concert goers that were eager for GD and he turned and looked directly at me. I waved like a dork and so did Brandy and he smiled widely and waved back. My day had pretty much been made. xDD
After that, some people came and sat next to us in AA. We happily moved down cuz we didn't want to get caught. Haha, I know, we are those people. Whatever, hate me all you want, you are just making me famous.
RANDOM: I totally met and talked to Endlessocean for like a second before they let us go to our seats. LOL
Ok back to the story:
So once GD finally came on and started their set we were dancing around and jumping and having so much fun just being there. Though I was already tired becuase of going all out for AFI. I honestly don't remember, but at some point, someone kicked us out of the AA section and sent us to the WW section. Oh well, I got to see AFI closer so it was ok with me.
The show that GD put on was pretty fucking rad. Billie Joe was pretty vulgar but it was funny. Though it bothered me that there were sooo many young children at the show. I'm talking, EVERYWHERE. D: At first there was someone dressed up like a pink bunny who was pretending to drink two beers and sway across the stage. Once they started playing songs it was pretty crazy. The pit was going wild and I wished so badly that I could have been part of that pit. They got to run up on stage and all this other crazy shit. Billie Joe gave his guitar away to some chick during "Longview". The pyrotechnics were BEAST and the loud BOOMS were so cool.
Honestly, I could have done without the first half of the show because I didn't know too many of the songs and I was just feeling tired as hell. But the second half was awesome. I was so glad that I heard some of my favorite GD songs live. Give Me Novicane, American Idiot, Holiday, Boulevard Of Broken Dreams, Geek Stink Breath, Jesus Of Surburbia, Longview, Good Riddance...just to name a few. xD (I totally wanted to hear "Maria" though.) They did alot of covers too. I distinctly remember "Highway To Hell" being played partially. I remember that at one point, Davey came back out and sang a few words with BJ but it was a cover song that I didn't know so I was like "OOOHHHH HAVOK!"
It was cool. Apparently they were filming this show too, so that's awesome. If they make a DVD, I'm buying it just to brag about how I was there. xDDD
So yea all in all though I didn't get to meet up with the guys after the show (which I was looking forward to doing :/), it was a killer show and we all had fun.
Thank you sooo much Jessi for opening your heart and doing this for us. You truly made my entire year. I love you DF sister. <3
