I hate Green Day

Rating: 4 votes, 4.75 average.
that's all i really wanted to say. i can't escape the fact that david havok is starring in this travesty of a musical, so my answer is always just a solid "i hate green day".

let alone the fact that a "punk" band is now producing a broadway musical (i guess it's pretty slow working on broadway these days)

but now they want people to pay money to come listen to green day's already schleppy songs in some sort of grandiose, orchestrated fashion? who the hell wants to sit and listen to re-done green day songs for 2 hours??

and i'm not trying to detract from davey. i hope he does well with this crap. god knows he'll need it.

well, that's about all i wanted to say. green day can go to hell as far as i'm concerned. what a bunch of poser sell outs. also you can file them with the red hot chili peppers under the "we've been writing the same songs for the past 15 years" category. granted, that seems to be what sells. i guess that's the point. find what sells and then stick to it. right?

also, can it with the skinny ties and eye-liner. jesus christ.

To each his own my friend, although I respectfully disagree.

We could get engaged in an epic endless discussion that would lead to nowhere in which I would pose my reasons to love Green Day, and you would pose yours to not like them.

I like musicals, and I like punk music. A musical that somehow involves a punk band would be orgasmic for me. Sadly, in the shithole where I live, this will probably never happen.

If one were to sketch the family tree of punk, I believe that Green Day would stand in the early roots (after bands like Bad Religion, The Clash, etc etc...). I think that alone has earned them some respect!

yea...I find it ridiculous that a "punk" band has broadway musical too. Ive never been a fan of them and it saddens me that Davey's debut on broadway had to be for Green Day but I'm glad he's having a good time.

There's really no need to be so negative.

I'm pretty sure the point of punk is to say fuck you to stuff you don't like. And I'm pretty sure Green Day would still say fuck you for calling them posers, sellouts, etc. And let me get this straight; you're complaining that they've changed in the past 15 years, only catering to the mainstream? That's so wrong, yet you would like them to stop wearing make up for you?

I say kudos for them to expanding their horizons. If you don't like when groups change and do different things, I don't know how you can call yourself an AFI fan. I don't really like Green Day's songs either, but there's no reason to disrespect anyone, or anything, unless they've done something really horrible like, oh, I don't know, rape and kill little girls. Just a thought. Maybe you should go be a police officer or something, and channel all that negative energy into something else.

this makes no sense. i'm so wrong yet i want them to stop wearing makeup? what does that mean? rape and kill little girls? what in god's name are you talking about?

that being said, i think green day USED TO be good. really, i like a lot of their old stuff.

alas, no more. and their single of their latest album... someone is the enemy, blah blah enemy? awful! it's like they're not even trying anymore. $ $ $ $ $ keep buying our bullshit because we sure can sell it

    afi > green day

however crash love is not good. it is their worst album, excluding their first two. i hope they pick it up for their next effort. i am not happy with crash love. it is a step backwards from decemberunderground. they are better than that

I usually agree with EVERYTHING you say, dude, but I just have to disagree with your whole freakout on green day. I was just saying that your opinion won't really matter to them and I don't see why it's so negative as a whole. I don't like them either, but... A lot of people here do, and it just kind of feels like you're TRYING to be different. Not that that's bad, but I think you see what I'm saying. I think bashing green day is a kind of sensitive topic, with Davey doing the show and everything.

Obviously I think afi > green day, or I wouldn't be here

No, no no no no no no x 1000.

Davey doing the show has nothing to do with bashing or not bashing Green Day! This is a corolary my friends. Bashing Green Day is wrong.

Also, there was a time when I thought different, but seeing the whole picture now, and at the risk of being bashed myself, I can safely attest that Green Day > AFI.

while I don't agree with your opinion, it is refreshingly bold and I respect it. for a rock band to make a crack in the broadway scene is awesome and the show was amazing. it seems like green day is selling out but selling out would've been making a cookie cutter broadway show...this is their "fuck you" to the broadway crowd while making a show about the story they want to portray. I LOVE afi but I agree with you 99% about crash love....I only like one song on there.

    well here's my assessment:

i wanted to write this because it's not really acceptable to post in threads and hate on bands. this is my outlet to write my own feelings and thoughts without necessarily worrying about offending anyone, because i can write what i want when i want. and with this space that i can criticize bands all i want. green day.... i don't like them. they seem so phony. i can't take what they're doing anymore, and the fact that people seem to think they're great for what they do.

i don't really want to sit here and reiterate all this crap i'm saying. i can say what i want in my blog, and i think it's great that at least someone comes on here to read it and criticize what i am saying. so thanks for your input, i'm at least enjoying writing this.

anyway... i can't think about this right now.
