Raising money to bike across the country this summer

Best opportunity of my life arose about two months ago.
I don't know if anyone reading this is familiar with the organization Falling Whistles (if you want to find out about them, I suggest www.fallingwhistles.com/story), but a lot of people at my college are big with them. Because of the close connections, my friend Justine has the pleasure of coordinating and organizing a cross-country bike tour for the organization that will aim to advocate for peace in Congo and push for free and fair elections in Congo this coming November. 9 people are currently signed up to do this - and I'm one of them.
Starting May 20th, I will be biking with a group of people an average of 67 miles per day (sometimes as low as 50, sometimes as high as 100) for 3 months. I'm starting in New York City, and the entire group with end up in Los Angeles in mid-late August. Every night we will be in a new city (with a couple of exceptions - the bigger cities like Philly or St. Louis we will be staying a couple of days) and every time we reach a new city, we will be doing an event in order to advocate for peace in Congo and raise awareness about the conflict in Africa.
I just ordered my ($1500.00) bike last week and I'm so excited for it to come in so I can get REAL training in - not just the gym bikes. However, I still have a lot of expenses. I need to buy equipment (panniers, riding clothes, a helmet, water bottles, stuff for repairs, etc.), a plane ticket from Los Angeles to New York for the end of the tour, and we're making a bank account that we'll all share so we can have money for food and emergency repairs, if necessary.
THEREFORE I set up an online donation site at http://www.gofundme.com/biketourfw and any help would be so unbelievably appreciated. It goes through PayPal, but you don't need a paypal account to donate. I understand that people don't have money to throw around to causes like this, and that's totally fine. If you have a spare dollar and feel generous, it would be greatly appreciated.
I'm so excited I can barely contain myself. This summer is going to be amazing.
