Between birth and dead

Soccer Europe cup.

I've never been much of a soccer fan. Sometimes, when there's nothing else on, I watch a game. It may happen that I actually enjoy watching it. Yet, I've never been much of a fan.

The World Cup and Europe Cup would pass me by if the country didn't go that crazy. When the stores and streets color orange, and it's not Queensday, I know it's that time again.

For some reason, I get sucked into it. I start watching the games and enjoy it, I like the strategic element the sport has. Also, I really like the drinking with friends part that accompanies it. For me, there doesn't have to be a goal every five minutes, there has to be a good game, with good passes and strategic insights.

This year, the first game the Netherlands played was terrible. I don't know what has gotten into the team, but it's no good. They played as good, maybe better than Denmark at times, but every time they got a chance, they messed it up big time. Of course, they lost. The Portugal - Germany game was just as bad, one big mess.

And now, I'm sitting in front of the television, laptop on my lap and a cigarette in my hand. The Spain - Italy game is on, where both teams are not living up to my expectations.

When the Europe Cup ends, I will go back to occasionally watching a game when it's on, not caring about the clubs, but being able to enjoy the game. I'll hear about the importance of the games and the classifications through friends on- and offline. I won't really care.

Whilst writing this, the Spain - Italy game has gotten a lot better (or my expectations have lowered), I don't know what has gotten into them, but this is a nice game to watch!

You know, there are a lot of things I don't really care about, but still like. I like going out and I don't really care about the bar I am going to, if I have the right friends. I like traveling and don't really care if it's with the train or bus, as long as it gets me where I need to be. Maybe passion isn't always needed, maybe sometimes it's enough to just enjoy what happens, without looking at the bigger picture.

The Spain - Italy game wasn't that bad after all. Started out pretty boring, but in the end got pretty exciting. It's a pity Torres is so disappointing, Villa would've scored twice.

Couldn't manage to see The Neherlands, just the end, and they missed a couple of good chances. To be honest, they have fallen in the hardest group of them all. I wish Germany and The Netherlands could make it though.

Also, I love watching games not caring about the score. I think those are the most entertaining ones, especially when you're enjoy a few shots of jagger at the same time.

Yeah, that was my opinion about the Spain - Italy game. What is it with Torres? It seems everyone loves him for no good reason. It's like van Persie on the Dutch team!

I actually really hope Denmark and the Netherlands make it through. Especially since Denmark is the underdog and turns out to be pretty okay. Germany - Netherlands will be exciting, if the Netherlands doesn't win or play even, they don't stand a chance to get through. It is the hardest group, I just hoped the games would show that. Right now, they didn't.

Ah, one of the best things about watching soccer: Drinking!
