what else is there to say, really?

i had long ago noticed hot topic's tendancy to capitalize on current youth subcultures by manufacturing and selling pre-packaged "goth" makeup and studded belts in malls across the country, but the recent addition of their new line of "cupcake cult" accessories and clothing is sort of like the icing on the cupcake.

prepackaged "scene."

girls only.

well....boys too....i mean blurring the gender lines is a really 'scene' thing to do, right?

unicorn necklaces, neon dinosaur flats, t-shirts with ice cream on them, brightly colored kiddie hair clips, sparkly eye shadows, plastic apple earrings, tanks with a pseudo 80's pattern on them, and robots on EVERYTHING.

as if hot topic hadn't already sucked the originality out of every music-based sub-culture there is, now any mall crawler can walk in, scoop up everything with the bright yellow cupcake cult label, and walk out a 'scenester.'

where is the fun in that?

i think it's a bad sign when you see kids walking around, and you can recognize their clothes/accessories from the racks at hot topic. or even just from all of the other 'scenesters' around.

it's okay to purchase a necklace or two because they're cute or whatever, but when you're wearing all of the clothes that hot topic shoves at you just because hot topic labels them as 'scene,' where's the originality in that?

and as if there weren't already enough "POSEURS" for the myspace whores to rant about, a whole new wave of them is going to be popping up soon.

idk what else to even say.....i'm just ranting.

but seriously....
