Lizards, MAC and vegan cafes, oh my!

Ok, I know I've been lazy. Again. And I'd planned to post something sooner, I really did. But I just kept putting it off, and putting it off.... And, well, here we are. But! Tonight I had the greatest experience.

A new cafe opened recently in Syracuse. Nichole, a friend from work, told me about it. It's a vegan cafe. Everything they serve is 100% cruelty free. Finally, this area is catching up with the rest of the world. I can't even explain how nice it was to go to a place and have a whole menu to choose from. I didn't have to survive on a salad or a sorry looking veggie burger.

I had the BLT with a side of potato salad and a peanut butter milkshake for dessert. It was awesome. I'll definately be going back there at some point. My brother even tried my sandwich and conceided that it was good. And he adored the oreo milkshake, despite the fact that it was all soy.

It totally made my week. It's called Strong Hearts Cafe on E. Genesee Street. Go check it out.

Alright, so on to the other things. I need to recount the tale of the lizard. My sister and I went to the local fireman's field days a few weeks ago. They have it every year. A little carnival of sorts, with the goldfish game, the balloon game.. the classics.

This year, they had a new game. You get three whiffle-type balls to toss onto a big, flat piece of wood that's full of holes. If your ball rolls into the right hole, you win a lizard. Or a stuffed animal, your choice. But the stuffed animals were crap and the lizards looked like the little anoles, which they've given away before. My sister won. So we meandered over to collect our lizard.

First of all, the lizards were all together in a cage and had to be fished out. The woman running the game refused to get the lizard out herself so I voulenteered. ( My sister wouldn't reach her hand in there either. ) When the little door in the top of the cage opened, I knew there was a problem. They weren't anoles. But I reached in and pulled one out. Know what they had to carry your new pet home in? A brown paper lunch sack.

That's right. A little brown bag for a 10-12" lizard.

So now the newly procured lizard is in it's bag. We had to pay a penny for it. And we find out, surprise!, it's a baby green iguana. Green iguana. That grows to 4-6'. And lives like 70 years. So this little carnival stand is giving away baby green iguanas, 'selling' them for a penny to make it legal and sending them home in a brown paper bag with a care sheet.

Parents were pissed. Poor little liazards. Nichole took the one we won home for her family. He has a better home there than we could have given him, as unprepared as we were. He was a sweet little thing though.

What else has happened? I applied for a new job. An Administraitive Assistant position. I haven't heard anything yet, but I'm hopeful.

Tonight, I went shopping as well. I got a chai latte and some new MAC eyeshadow. I have a purple collection now. So that gives me a red collection, purple collection, half a green collection and a silver. Just one silver though. Not a collection. Hopefully I'll be able to aquire some more soon. I'd like a blue collection. Eventually.

Oh! I got the sticker I've been looking for as well. The one that says 'Muffins are just ugly cupcakes'. I'm going to put it on my car.

So that's been the goings-on. Goodness all around. Now lets see if I can get Davey to answer me again tonight. That'd make my week near perfect.
