Okay, so we have the "Beatnecks" of the 50s, the Hippies of the 60s, pretty much everybody of the 70s before us. All rebels. All uniting against a subjective norm. Musically, Rock has continued this legacy, fighting the evils of a conformed society, but how much hip-waving Elvis, or Bible-burning Marilyn Manson can we take? But now, what is left to rebel against, and if there even is anything, it seems that nobody is anymore. Personally, I blame the stigma of Emo. Everyobdy is too fu*king depressed or unhappy with their comparitively priveledged life (looking form a global perspective--Not making any sweeping generalizations here). Where are all the rebellious thinkers? I'm not just talking about the androgenous and "expressive" but the ones who are pissed off enough with the bullshit war, fuc*wit president, and the apparent failure of some parents to actually do something? I'm completely tired of this "quiet rebellion" of people wearing black and cutting themselves over their woes. We've all been there and done that. Is there nobody out there that is through bitching about the world and ready to get off their ass and do something? Rebellion is over. It finished long ago. Now is the time for activism. Be active. I'm frustrated with the world, and it's time people who feel the same way untie to better the world. The earth is fuc*ed up enough, let's try to at least fix it instead of bitching about it.
