Sunday morning was a bastard, got up at 6am to leave for about 6:45... Very tired. got to the venue for just before 8 and put the bike together... discovered a punctured rear (3 different holes!) got a spare tube and fitted it all good.
Swim came along and I managed to complete that in just under 11m Swimming is not my best discipline by far... in fact I'm shit at it.
Next up trasnsition 1... by the time I got out the pool, over to transition area dried off a little and put on t-shirt and compression tights it's another 3mins added to the time.
cycle starts and I get off to a pretty good speed fairly comfortable, so stay at that for about 3km, after the long straight slightly uphill I turn left and the back end slides out underneath me... bit of counter steering manages to keep me off the tarmac, and after a quick look back I notice that my rear tyre is completely flat... 17km to go... Just decide to battle through it and keep pedaling. This fucking slowed me down immensely... had about 8people ride past me teling me to keep going (nice of them).
onto second transition and I get told off for swearing into the mic of the guy asking me how I found the bike... hahaha... apparently "Fucking terrible with a flat tyre all the way" isn't very family friendly.
The problem with the bike didn't allow me to flush out my legs to get the m ready for the run.... found the start of the run very hard compared to usual...
Finished the race in 1h 33mins which considering the problems is a pretty respectable time I think... I reckon if the problems didn't happen I'd hit under 1h 15min and come up towards the top of the pack.
Today I've gone and signed myself up for the bristol tri sprint in july, and have also discovered that september there's a nice looking olympic length tri in the local area thatI'm definitely up for trying... all that with the bristol half marathon at the start of july too!
Good times ahead!
And here's me looking remarkably relaxed crossing the finish line!
