I've really been digging The Loved Ones and Descendents the past couple of weeks. I've only had Keep Your Heart for a week and I already love it. Not a bad track on there. I'm looking to get an album from The Lawrence Arms too.

I grew up on punk and I don't think I have really listened to any straight up punk in a while.
I'm sorry I couldn't hear your complaining over all the awesome!
I like a lot of what is happening in hybrid punk scenes like in Brooklyn with The Death Set and their like. Punk rock as it exists to me was always a big part of my life. There were a grouping of bands that had a huge effect on my life like Face to Face.
At the same time I've never been a digger in the punk scene. I dig to some extent in other scenes, but I never really went chasing after all the unpromoted small time bands or the grass roots scene.

My favorite punk band right now is the Ruts. They were so, so, fucking good. I guess they're quasi-back together right now with Henry Rollins on vocals. I've also been rocking The Stitches a lot. They don't get near enough love.
The best part of Another State of Mind is where Mike Ness is talking about continuing the band after everyone leaves and he says, "I know these songs like the back of my...like my mother" after realizing he really doesn't know the back of his hand very well. Hahahhaa.
At this point, punk probably only makes up about 20% of what I listen to anymore, but I still consider myself a punk. I just don't think something that had such a huge impact on me and anybody else who got into it when they were kids - the ideas, the attitude, the sound, the ethics - could possibly leave from me completely, no matter how much my music tastes "mature."

I can't imagine Henry Rollins singing "Jah War".
8===D ~~~ FUN TIMES
I like Henry as a vocalist, but if I remember right, when I saw Rollins Band on SNL a long time ago, he was shirtless and doing all these ridiculous karate kicks and stuff. It was like a ROLLINS TAE BO!!! video.
