New Board Homepage

The new board homepage has made its debut. There is still work to be done and so the page will continue to be tweaked and refined over the coming weeks and months, but here it is.

This is the thread where you should post your thoughts, issues, and suggestions regarding this addition to the DF site. Please post any considered things that come to mind as you use the new page.

Please note that this new page will, at a point in time no longer so distant, become the homepage of despairfaction.com and will be a one-stop place for everything DF. Visitors to the site who are not registered for the board or who are members but not DF will have their own type of homepage very similar to what exists now, but DF members will be in for a treat.

Your feedback is very important to us. Please give things a bit to sink in, a day or two if necessary, and then please let us know what you think. (But if you have something important to share, please do it right now!)

Note that you may access the old forums homepage by clicking "Forums" in the top left area of the new homepage, right by Site Navigation, or by clicking "The Official AFI & DF Message Board" in the top left navigation area of every page on the site except the new homepage.

If you are used to clicking on the top image to return to the forum index, you'll need to break the habit and move your hand over a couple inches.

Thanks Gavin. I couldn't find how to get to the board (before I read this) so i just clicked your recent reply in 10C.

Now I understand what's happening.

I was looking for the top bar which links to the board index. It's going to take a while to get used to not being able to click the big DF (or AFI for non DFers) at the top to go back to the board index.

But in time the new homepage will feel normal and we won't know any different. Looking forward to this exciting time of change.

I clicked the banner a few times thinking "what is going on?"
It's going to be hard breaking that habit, but I like the new page.

I think it is neat.

I doubly appreciate the fact that once a category is closed, it stays that way.

An easily accessible way to return to the portal from the forums would be handy. Possibly the far-left of the VB menu control. If space is an issue, Guidelines & Help is a bit dusty.
