Guess I should post my top 5 lately

Saint Vitus (why I didn't find out about this band until a few months ago is beyond me. So good.)
    Down
    Eyehategod
    Acid Bath
    Electric Wizard

Need to hear the new Agalloch. I did check out Gallowbraid recently though and was really impressed. Also, more people should check out the new Thou album.

I haven't heard the whole EP, but I watched the video.

oppressive is a good word for this. they have the sort of pompousness of black metal, the riffage of thrash, and the corrosive, mind-eroding darkness of doom. I love them. considering how well the music is recorded, I can't believe how much I like them.

    EDIT: To Corey.

I really like that Gallowbraid EP.

The weird thing is, those songs were written about 4 years ago, and recorded only last year. Imagine hearing that stuff in 2006. Bloody hell. Full length next year apparently !

Still haven't gotten around to the new Thou, keep meaning to though ! Def check out the Agalloch record. Black Lake Nidstang is the best song I've heard this year. Honestly, 17 minutes long and it never feels like it.

Nick: The EP is sweet, definitely a band I want to see live. I can imagine it's just heavy as shit.

The Prolonging certainly lives up to its name.

I'll listen to the new Agalloch when I go home in a few days. Really amped to hear it since I'm more into them now. My thoughts when I heard Gallowbraid's EP were that if someone released that on the internet and labeled it "new Agalloch songs" then it would fool many people. That's meant to be a compliment, haha.

There's a lot of new stuff I need to get more into I've been going back to Thou more than others. I really like the new Intronaut album, too. It reminds me of Baroness a little bit with some of the melodies.

I've also been watching a ton of Eyehategod videos on youtube the past few days and reading interviews of Mike Williams. Really makes me like them more.

I remember being really in eyehategod, they just seem to have fell off my radar though.
