As long as you're not computer-challenged or a moron you can avoid viruses on PCs. I can be a huge idiot sometimes but I avoid them...and even if something unfortunate happens its easy to get rid of them, even the nasty ones.

This is very true. I went though many PCs and viruses on them growing up, and now my current PC is really clean because of all the knowledge I gained. I only find tracking cookies anymore when I scan, which are pretty harmless anyway. Though I do love my MacBook too. <3

There are some really nasty viruses that aren't so easy to get rid of, though. There's one that recently got onto my mum's netbook. My partner, who worked in IT for several years, nearly had to resort to a low-level format to get rid of it, because the stupid thing got into the partition table. His work's IT guy said it was the nastiest thing he'd ever seen.

Personally, I like PCs. That said, I don't have much experience with Macs. But given how over-priced they are, I doubt I ever will.

Ubuntu does not apply to my post about Linux. You need to be running debian or some offshoot of redhat.
So, I'm marching up to your gates today. To throw my lonely soul away.

Still far easier to do with a mac.

Don't know what I did, but i broke mine a little while back. First problem i've had with the thing in 3 years of owning it. Had to basically reinstall the operating system. Absolute piece of piss to do, just following instructions on the disc. Also really easy to retrieve all my old files in the process. All I had was ball ache doing the same thing when I was on windows. Pain in the ass every time I had to wipe and reinstall windows. I'm not one of those people who will live and die by Apple, but I've experienced numerous problems owning computers with a windows operating system compared to 1 with owning a macbook.

Yeah, but how many macs have you owned? I've had PCs all my life, but got a MacBook from relatives as a gift a couple years ago. Even though you have had less problems with macs, consider how long you've owned macs, and how long you owned PCs. My mac harddrive died out of nowhere a few months ago. I've never had that happen to me with all the PCs that I've had.

Granted, i've owned my mac less, however, its the longest i've owned a single machine. Then there are friends and family members. The problems had with macs amongst them are few and far between. Windows on the other hand......

At the end of the day, when it comes to certain things in life, you get what you pay for. Spend a grand on a macbook, and its likely to be a better machine than spending a few hundred on a laptop with equal spec. Ok, if you spend a grand on a laptop you are likely to get a decent machine thats a better spec than a macbook, and if you are into your computers, and can maximise the usage out of it then great.

EDIT: Got a mate who won't touch apple or windows and swears by Linux, never given that a go, so can't judge, but he's into his computers, so probably knows what he's talking about.

I have three close people to me (2 friends, 1 family), and within the past year and a half, I converted them to all buy an Apple product... MWAHAHAHAHA!!!

OK. Admittedly, I am not the sole reason...

My B-i-L bought an iPad and uses it much more than his laptop. My best friend since middle school, which swore by Linux, and even Windows before he would even touch Mac OS, bought a laptop with intention to triple-boot between Win 7, Ubuntu, and Lion; we just talked the other day, and he confessed he hasn't even re-booted into Windows or Linux in 3 months. And another long-time friend, which detested Apple for the longest time, bought an iPad, mostly to use FaceTime so he could talk to his girlfriend while they each work opposite schedules, but loves it and is saving up to get a MacBook Pro when they are updated.
I am of the new revolution

Mac. For the plain and simple reason that Apple is just prettier.
