Thread: Zumba!

  1. #1

    Zumba!

    Obligatory Zumba thread.

I enjoy Zumba because it has me sweating and dying in a a short amount of time, yet is easier than running on a treadmill or something. I've yet to reach the point where I find it "fun" like everyone else seems to, but I do find it much more entertaining than other forms of exercise.

I have the Zumba Fitness game on Wii and the Zumba Exhilarate DVDs that I just got the other day. I haven't been doing it for very long and I'm still at the beginner level, but I'm hoping that during the few remaining weeks that I'm in the US I'll tone a little bit.

I used to do a hip hop aerobics class twice a week before I broke my ankle and I assume it is a lot like Zumba with he combination of aerobics class and dancing, and I tell you what that class kicked my butt and had me losing 10 lbs in a month, so I hopefully will be back in to it soon. I may even check out Zumba if the class at my gym is offered at a time I can take it.

I have never tried Zumba and I probably never will, but your facebook posts about it amuse me. If that counts.

    Oh...

SO YOU ENJOY MY SUFFERING DO YOU?

Today I finally unlocked "having fun" while doing it. I think I have to do the routines one or two times before I really start to have fun. I was at Stone Mountain today and while I was out on the lawn dance music started to play, so I broke out my fun Zumba moves.

I'm still too scared to go to the gym for a class, I can do the moves but I look like a bumbling idiot, so I'd rather not show that off to the experts.

    ...YES.

and at the gym, not only do other people get to watch you (well, not you particularly, humanity in general) humiliate yourself, but you get to watch YOU humiliate yourself since EVERY WALL IS A MIRROR. the. worst.

I like the mirrors, it helps me adjust my form and keeps me amused if I get bored and need someone , ie myself, to laugh at!

April, did you break an ankle recently, too?! I'm just out of my walking cast, and am super anxious to get moving again after weeks of sitting on the couch.

I want to try one of these classes--I would be crap at it, but it always seems like so much fun, haha.
    In Memorium

Yep, fell in March and got my walking cast off middle of May, and the ankle still swells and aches occasionally. It stinks, but the elliptical is still doable, it is the only machine at the gym I can do any cardio on right now.
