Hi guys. New AFI fan here. They have now become one of my favorite bands. (A guy at work actually turned me on to them a few weeks before DecemberUnderground was released.) Anyway, I work for a broadcasting company that owns many radio stations across the US. I do tech support for their radio automation software and manage our Music Store. (The place that radio stations can shop for, and order music from us.)
I was ripping the new CD's for the week which are sent to us by the record companies (New single releases) and came across a new version of Miss Murder. It is basically the same song except when the bridge comes in. The music does not break down to the bridge like in the original version, but instead continues with an alternate cord progression close to the chorus and contains the lyrics:
For a little moment I'm,
Frozen in perfect time.
My heart, (HEY!) my heart, (HEY!)
My heart's imperfect too.
(Ooooooooh)
Freeze you so you won't forget,
Born to the empty set.
My heart, (HEY!) my heart, (HEY!)
My heart is empty too. Whoaaaaaaaaaa.
Then proceeds to go back into the chorus as the original song does after the bridge ends.
These new lyrics replace the bridge lyrics:
What's the hook that twists within this verbose mystery?
I would gladly bet my life upon it
The ghost you love, your ray of light will fizzle out
Without hope
We're the empty set just flowing through, wrapped in skin
Ever searching for what we were promised
Reaching for the golden ring we never let go...
But who would ever let us put their filthy hands upon it?
I personally prefer the original arrangement. I can only assume this is an alternate version for the more poppy radio stations to play. (shudder)Anyway, I thought I'd pass this info along for you guys to look, and/or listen out for. If anyone else has heard this, or knows anything about it, I'd appreciate some info. Thanks!
